Love Story
How We Met
Spring 2017
It wasn't quite love at first sight. Sandy and Darshna first crossed paths in 2017 after joining Elastacloud, both having left behind academic careers in Robotics and Neuroscience to step into the world of Tech. First impressions weren't entirely flattering. Sandy thought Darsh was too nice, while Darshna thought Sandy was a slightly cocky class clown. What followed, however, was a strong friendship and an intellectual connection that naturally deepened into something more.
The First Big Move
Autumn 2017
A few months later, we packed up life in the Midlands and set off on our first big adventure: London. The next two years were nothing short of magical. We met incredible people, built lifelong friendships, and made memories we'll treasure forever. From chaotic WeWork nights out to summer camp festivals and travelling across southern Spain every few weeks for both work and play, life felt full, exciting, and completely us.
The Second Big Move
Summer 2019
Then came the big three-oh and a new chapter in our relationship. After much convincing from Sandy, we bought our first home together in London, a full doer-upper, much to Darsh's initial horror. Through the dust, disruption, and plenty of learning curves, we began creating a home we truly loved, always finding ways to laugh through the chaos. Around this time, our little family grew too, with the arrival of our much-adored fur baby, Tedrick, who quickly became the heart of our home.
The First Proposal
Friday, 27th March 2020
We've never been ones for convention, so it feels fitting that our engagement story isn't exactly straightforward. On 27th March 2020, shortly after moving house and just as the pandemic took hold, Darsh decided to take matters into her own hands and proposed to Sandy during one of their daily walks around the lakes.
The Second Proposal

Wedding plans paused, life continued and a few years later, Darsh casually asked Sandy to write her a letter for her birthday. Instead, for our anniversary, Sandy planned an Asia cruise, writing Darsh a new letter every single day. It was only on the penultimate day, where an anniversary note in the daily cruise news revealed there was a hidden message in letters, that Darsh decided to open all the envelopes to try and crack the cipher. The next day was our anniversary and Sandy had organised dinner and fun photo shoot. I did think this was a little weird as Sandy hates taking photos but didn't think too much of it as he loves wearing Indian clothes and dressing up. During the shoot the photographer had us being silly and pretending to be on the Titanic, only when I turned around after pretending to pose like Kate Winslet, I saw Sandy down on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes! The surprises didn't stop there though he later gifted with a beautiful auctioned map, which the band later described as heated, shared pre-recorded messages from my mum and Shiv, cake and champagne at restaurant and of course the final letter with three riddles to help me crack the message in the letters: 'Will you marry me?' - the cocky little shit was so confident I wouldn't crack it before he popped the question.
